The African Human Rights Consortium/AHRC/ conducted its recent institute between 5-13 May 2010 in Gaborene-Botswana.There were two parallel events, African Leadership Institute and training in human rights litigation. The leadership institute, attended by leading human rights intellectuals discussed the human rights spaces in Africa and deliberated on broader policy and strategic issues. Established by forward-looking Africans in 2006, the AHRC operates through an engaging program that broadens advocacy & litigation skills and abilities while examining workable solutions for programme development. Based in Gaborene, Botswana the Consortium engages in a programme that discusses issues and new trends in a bid to identify the strategies necessary to lead advocacy campaigns effectively and strengthen the role in the human rights movement. Its niche lies on professional development strategy. The AHRC acts as a catalyst and convener of human rights debate and research. Its goal includes developing the next generation of human rights researchers and advocacy.
