African Union Validation Workshop

AU SSR Validation Workshop: The African Union has organized a validation workshop in Addis Ababa to look at the details of a continental Security Sector Reform strategy. The meeting is a follow up of the March 2009 UN-AU consultations on developing an SSR strategy for the African Union. The March 23-24 meeting, particularly the UN-AU Strategic Retreat chaired by Medhane Tadesse of CPRD set the stage and provided a sense of direction for the development of an SSR framework for Africa. The three-day long Validation Workshop discussed the details of mainstreaming SSR to all mechanisms and instruments within the African Union.
