Lecture on the Horn of Africa:
Lecture on the current peace and Security situation in the Horn, Kings College, London November 23/24, 2009. 10.00 – 12.30 am. The lecture focused on the regional peace and security situation with a special emphasis on the Ethiopia-Eritrea conflict and the Somali crisis. The audience was made up of Africa Women Fellows at the Conflict Security Development Group/CSDG/, War Studies, Kings College London. Central to the discussion was the question of Somaliland and why Somaliland is different from the rest of Somalia. My points around the issue revolved on the unique aspects of political transition in Somaliland which, interalia, include the unique British colonial experiment, the role of traditional mechanisms of conflict resolution and the marriage between the political elite and the livestock trading class.
