African Leaders and Copenhagen:
African leaders are not united on the nature, course and expected results of the Copenhagen Climate Conference. They have differing views on the major areas of concern and what they want to get out of the conference. Shortly before the meeting the president of Gabon visited the UK and met with Prince Charless arguing in favor of taking Deforestation as the main policy focus of the rich countries in Africa. Though, Africa was made to be represented by one negotiating team differing, sometimes antagonistic, views were heard in Copenhagen and African capitals. Irrespective of the merits of the agenda of climate change, the majority African leaders are more interested in the resources the issue offers than the issue itself.A new addition to the fragmentation of the African political landscape.
